Our family of Dirt Wizards is highly-focused – one might even say spellbound – on providing traction and control on the kinds of surfaces where nary traction nor control are to be found. Its tread is comprised of a dual row of aggressive, trail-gobbling, beveled knobs in the center and well-spaced, siped knobs to dig into loose corners. Designed to work on 50mm rims, Dirt Wizards are tall and wide, providing next-level traction and cushioning. The casings have been designed to be flexible and responsive, yet durable and supportive. Called 29+ by those in the know, Surly's Dirt Wizard tire provides float, cushion, and traction like a fat bike tire, but keeps the handling fast and responsive with its 29 x 3.0-inch size. There's also a choice between a 60 or 120 threads-per-inch casing, so you can decide whether you're interested in supple or very supple tires. Intended for rims 50mm wide, its aggressive knobbies deliver excellent traction and control in corners and through loose, mixed terrain.

Surly's Knard tire exists in a strange realm trail-taming of fatty wideness. The tread consists of closely spaced blocks that grab terrain and hold it hostage until they're done with it. Surly's Knard is a 29 x 3-inch wide tire with the perfect tread for maximum traction plus low rolling resistance. It's designed for Surly's 50mm-wide Rabbit Hole rim (sold separately), and it will also play nice on rims down to about 35mm wide. But, your frame must have the clearance, Clarence.
